Ouray and San Miguel Counties Child Maltreatment Prevention

Bright Futures for Early Childhood and Families (Bright Futures) is a relatively new family resource center that serves both San Miguel and Ouray counties. To better understand the diverse communities it serves, and ultimately to better support the people within those communities, the organization applied for and received a Child Maltreatment Prevention Framework for Action (Framework) Community Planning Grant in October 2017. The award has helped Bright Futures make a swift and significant impact within the two counties it serves, putting them on the vanguard of planning efforts to prevent child abuse and neglect. In addition to financial assistance from the Colorado Office of Early Childhood, the grant package included extensive support from Early Milestones Colorado, a nonprofit intermediary that advances success for young children across the state by accelerating innovation, use of best practices and systemic change.
