Dr. Deborah Monaghan, M.D., joins OCYF as new Medical Director
The CDHS Office of Children, Youth and Families is pleased to announce the newest addition to its team – Dr. Deborah Monaghan, M.D., who will serve as the Medical Director for the Office. Prior to joining CDHS, Dr. Monaghan worked at Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment where she served as the Director of Public Health Partnerships. In that role, she and her team built partnerships with government agencies – federal, state and local – as well as nonprofit organizations and elected officials to promote public health services and maintain a strong public health infrastructure.
As the OCYF Medical Director, Dr. Monaghan will provide guidance on the health needs of the children, youth and families served by all of OCYF’s programs, including each of the Division of Youth Services facilities. Her first day is June 15, 2020.
A licensed Family Practice physician, Dr. Monaghan earned her M.D. from the University of Mississippi and completed her residency training at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction. She has experience with medical and behavioral health consultation for geriatric patients and adults with disabilities, clinical outreach to primary providers on HIV prevention, sexual health promotion and opioid overdose prevention. Her experience in organizational development, change management, quality improvement, health equity and policy/process improvement will be invaluable to OCYF and the children, youth and families we serve.I want to thank the Medical Oversight Unit for its commitment to quality care and for its patience and flexibility.
