November marks the beginning of National Adoption Month in Colorado.

National Adoption Month celebrates creating connections that provide support and a sense of belonging for young people throughout their lives.

National Adoption Month Proclamation 2025

WHEREAS, Colorado’s future success, prosperity, and quality of life depend on its children
and youth; and

WHEREAS, children and youth are resilient, and with support from families and communities,
they can heal from adversity and thrive; and

WHEREAS, all children and youth deserve a safe, loving family, yet more than 300 children
and youth in Colorado are waiting to be adopted; and

WHEREAS, affirming and supportive parents can help children navigate past challenges, grow
in confidence, and reach their full potential; and

WHEREAS, we must come together as a community to celebrate Colorado’s adoptive families
and raise awareness about the need for more adoptive families in Colorado; and

WHEREAS, adoption is open to every adult age 21 and older, regardless of race, ethnicity,
religion, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or marital status; and

WHEREAS, families who welcome older youth and sibling groups play a vital role in helping
children stay connected and supported;

THEREFORE, I, Jared Polis, Governor of the State of Colorado, do hereby proclaim
