Child Maltreatment Prevention
Framework for Action

This framework is designed as a tool to guide strategic thinking at the state and local level, about resource investments to prevent child maltreatment and promote child well-being. As this tool is used collectively across the state, the resulting alignment of strategies will maximize the impact on shared outcomes.

Morgan County plans to prevent child maltreatment

Adams County’s Child Maltreatment Prevention Framework for Action planning resulted in two primary areas of focus:

Establish a youth and family commission aligned first with Morgan County City Council

  • By September of 2020, a functioning family and youth commission made up of diverse community members will be actively involved in researching/presenting issues vital to families in Morgan County (e.g. childcare, adequate/affordable housing, transportation) to the City Council with the goal of two policy improvements to occur in the first eight months

Improve family health (decrease stress/anxiety) by educating families on financial literacy and importance of skill attainment

  • By August 2019, a campaign to improve awareness of the value of job credentials/financial literacy/skill attainment among the Morgan County community would be launched county-wide targeting community members from high school through working-aged adults utilizing print, radio and community events for one full year. Follow up surveys will measure its effectiveness (awareness and impact)

Connect families to available resources to prevent child maltreatment

  • By summer of 2019, local events will be held at least every three months to increase knowledge and awareness of parenting resources among Morgan County parents of youth (0-18) in order to increase utilization of local resources
