Welcoming Robert “Tres” Newport as Deputy Director of OCYF

Smiling bearded man in professional dress stands on a roof with the Colorado State Capitol in the background.

The Office of Children, Youth and Families is excited to share that a familiar face will be the new Deputy Director of the Office of Children, Youth, and Families. Robert “Tres” Newport has more than two decades of experience at CDHS, bringing a unique blend of leadership, innovation, and a deep commitment to improving outcomes for youth and families.

Throughout his career, Tres has made a significant impact for the State supporting the transformation of work cultures with a focus on resiliency, constituents, and data. He has worked as the Director of Quality Assurance Youth Services (QAYS) for the last seven years, focusing on developing compliance frameworks and assessment tools that have improved the quality and safety of youth programs statewide. Tres’s work in quality assurance and policy development set benchmarks adopted by other state programs, further showcasing his ability to influence positive change on a large scale.

Tres came upon his name as he is officially Robert Arthur Newport III  (Uno, dos, tres…). He is also an Arizona Wildcat Fan, as he is originally from Arizona. Don’t hold it against him. He is a self-proclaimed cook who can win over anyone with his pulled pork tacos!! He and his wife, Vanessa, are also proud parents to their son Kegan, who loves to catch a live sporting event with his dad.

Join OCYF in congratulating Tres. He will start his new role on December 9. We are thrilled to have him on board and look forward to the vision, expertise, and enthusiasm he has.
