On average, 9 children and youth enter foster care each day in Colorado, because their parents need time to learn new skills and address safety concerns. Foster parents provide a temporary home for those children and youth.
If Not You, Then Who?
Colorado is experiencing a shortage of foster parents. We need foster parents in EVERY community. There are no restrictions on who can become a foster parent based on:
- Race
- Ethnicity
- Religion
- Sexual Orientation
- Marital Status
What matters is that you are at least 21 years or older and ready to make a difference in a child or youth’s life at a time when they need you the most.
Getting Started
If you have time and patience to dedicate to helping a young person work through the challenges that often accompany a difficult childhood, we need your help. The first step is to contact your local county department of human services or a child placement agency and attend an information meeting.
