What\u2019s Happening<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Children develop in many ways and at different rates. While each child is unique, there are developmental milestones or skills that children are expected to develop by certain ages. As parents, we expect these age-specific tasks to occur naturally. Children don\u2019t necessarily learn skills at the same pace, but when milestones don\u2019t develop within the expected broad time frame or don\u2019t appear at all, parents and caregivers may become concerned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Don\u2019t let your child\u2019s delay or disability label become the entire focus. Your child has special challenges but is also a member of your family. Seeing your child grow and develop as an individual and part of the family is one of the great pleasures of being a parent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What You Might Be Seeing<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Parents and primary caregivers are in the best position to note any ongoing concerns about their child\u2019s development that may require action. Although children develop at their own rate, some differences may be signs of developmental delays or disabilities. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
