CDHS Launches Respite Care Program<\/h1><\/div>\n\n\n\n

CDHS is excited to announce a new respite program to help sustain youth in their foster placement.  The respite program is for children\/youth who are in a foster\/kinship placement that need traditional respite care, crisis stabilization and\/or psychiatric stabilization.  The respite care cannot exceed 14 days and the child\/youth must return to the original placement. The foster care provider will continue to receive their stipend and the respite provider will receive payment through CDHS contract funds. CDHS has contracted with three programs: Kids Crossing (CPA) for traditional foster care respite, Shiloh House (RCCF) for crisis stabilization, and Southern Peaks (PRTF) for psychiatric stabilization.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kids Crossing currently has five beds (four in Colorado Springs and one in Pueblo) available for respite.  Ben Schoch (bschoch@kidscrossing.com<\/a>, 719-671-7320) is the contact person for the Kids Crossing respite program.  Please reach out to Ben with any questions regarding his specific beds.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Shiloh House respite program located at the Yarrow House in Littleton has eight beds available.  They accept children\/youth that identify as male ages 7-17 years.  These beds are available for crisis stabilization and the expectation would be that the foster parent has some involvement with the child\/youth during their stay to support the youth and enhance their own trauma informed skills while the youth is receiving treatment.  Please contact Elizabeth Meissner (emeissner@shilohhouse.net<\/a>,O: (303) 933-6496 x 1560) with specific questions about Shiloh’s beds.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Southern Peaks respite program is located in Canon City has two beds for children\/youth ages 10 to 17. A memo about this program will be sent out soon.  Southern Peaks beds are for psychiatric stabilization for youth who temorarily need a higher level of care to stabilize.  The Southern Peaks contact person is Jeremy Hugins (jhugins@abraxasyfs.org<\/a>, 719-318-6495)  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The purpose of the all these beds is to preserve placement of youth in a community setting. They are to be used as a preventative tool to help sustain the placement. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
