Safe sleep every sleep photo contest winners

In October 2018, CO4Kids held a Safe Sleep Every Sleep Photo Contest in honor of Safe Sleep Awareness month. The contest was intended to help inspire parents, grandparents, relatives, friends neighbors and early childhood professionals in Colorado to practice the ABCs of safe sleep during every nap, every night, and each time they care for a young child.

The contest closed out with 661 collective likes on Facebook and 15 contestants having submitted photos of their sweet babies sleeping safely according to the American Academy of Pediatrics tips an guidelines. Winners of the contest were selected based on the number of "likes" that their photo received on the CO4Kids Facebook page. The contest winners were the top three contestants whose photos received the most "likes" by October 31, 2018 at 5:00 pm (MTN). Meet the contest winners below. 

1st Place Winner | Brittney Reichert

Closing the contest with 207 likes, Brittney is the first place contest winner of the Safe Sleep, Every Sleep Photo Contest. Brittney has selected to grant $1,000 to the Children's Literacy Center (CLC).

CLC is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization that was founded and is headquartered in Colorado Springs, CO. CLC began as a Junior League project in 1991, but has since evolved into a state-wide effort that receives support from a broad base of individual donors, businesses, corporations, schools, and foundations. CLC works with the community, schools, and families, providing a cost-effective literacy program that shrinks the gap between success and failure. CLC program participants develop a solid reading foundation essential to success now and in the future. Tutors give each child the confidence they need to succeed.

2nd Place Winner | Janine Castillo

Closing the contest with 144 likes, Janine is the second place winner of the Safe Sleep, Every Sleep Photo Contest. Janine has selected to grant $500 to the Adoption Exchange.

The Adoption Exchange is a non-profit 501(c)(3) child welfare organization that is headquartered in Colorado and was founded in 1983 to help establish safety and permanence in the lives of foster children. Although the Exchange was initially an exchange point for caseworkers to discuss placement of children with families seeking to adopt in the Rocky Mountain region, the organization has grown considerably over the years and engenders a powerful impact on national trends in child welfare, employs over 50 paid staff, and counts on scores of volunteers to carry out its mission. The Adoption Exchange takes a holistic approach to adoption and provides expertise and support before, during, and after the adoption process.

3rd Place Winner | Madison Sanders

Closing the contest with 64 likes, Madison is the third place winner of the Safe Sleep, Every Sleep Photo Contest. Madison has selected to grant $250 to Life Stories Child & Family Advocacy in Greeley, Colorado.

Life Stories works to efficiently investigate and prosecute criminal cases of child abuse and neglect and provide advocacy & support for victims and their non-offending family members. By giving children a safe space to tell their story and the resources to overcome the trauma they faced, Life Stories hopes that all victims will become survivors and have a better future – in safe, permanent homes free from abuse and neglect.
