Plan of Safe Care Rule listening and stakeholder feedback sessions

October 5, 2021

The Colorado Department of Human Services Office of Children Youth and Families, Division of Child Welfare is updating Volume 7 for the Colorado Plan of Safe Care. The purpose of the proposed rule is to add new definitions and align consistency in practice with the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act (CAPTA) and the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act (CARA) that requires a plan of safe care to be completed for all substance-exposed newborns to address the immediate safety needs of the affected infant and the health and substance use disorder treatment needs of the affected family or caregiver. These rules are scheduled to be effective by May 2022.

The purpose of the listening and stakeholder feedback sessions is to be informed on the Colorado Plan of Safe Care Rule Writing Work Group progress, ask questions, and provide feedback and input.
