Celebration of Educational Excellence 2023
The Colorado Department of Human Services and the Colorado Department of Higher Education are partnering with multiple organizations and community partners to recognize young people involved in foster care or youth services who have graduated from high school, received a GED, or obtained a college degree this year. Graduates in attendance will have a chance to attend the resource fair to connect with organizations that can support their success in the future. The Celebration of Educational Excellence was created 25 years ago in response to the poor educational outcomes youth with lived experience in foster care. The Celebration has grown and expanded throughout its history integrating a resource fair, and emphasizing youth voice and input.

In addition to a ceremony honoring the achievements of these youth, the event begins with the Pathways to Success Education, Employment & Resource Fair, helping young people connect with educational partners, community resources, and providing them with information to support their pursuit of lifelong goals. Where are They Now? Video Project
We are asking for any and all former CEEX graduates with their help on this special project to celebrate the 25th year of Celebration of Educational Excellence. If you are interested please do the following:
We are asking for the videos to:
Be appropriate (clothing, no inappropriate hand gestures etc.) *if video is deemed to be inappropriate it will not be included
Video to be between 3-5 minutes and include:
1. Name
2. Year(s) participated
3. What role you had (graduate, speaker/entertainer etc.)
4. What CEEX meant to you
5. What are you doing now
6. Congratulate current grads
7. Any words of wisdom
Please send the videos to Maitri Jensen (maitri.jensen@state.co.us) with “Where are they Now Video” in the subject line. We would also like to ask that if you are a former graduate, to join us on this special night so we can show Class of 2023 the possibilities for their futures.
