Spark a movement to support foster parents in Colorado

In 2016, the Annie E. Casey Foundation published a report entitled “A Movement to Transform Foster Parenting” exploring ways for public agencies to ensure that children receive the care they need by enlisting more volunteers to step forward as foster parents and by encouraging the extraordinary individuals who have already answered the call to continue their commitment to care. The report identifies three major themes for engaging and empowering foster parents: ensuring quality caregiving for children; forging strong relationships; and, finding and keeping more amazing caregivers.

Share your experience.

The Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS) is working to spark a movement to support foster parents here in Colorado. You may have seen the recent announcement about the creation of a foster parent steering committee. In addition to the committee, CDHS and many state and local partners are holding a series of town hall discussions with foster parents to talk about some of the ideas in this report and learn more about how to better support you.
