Trails Modernization Release 5 -What to expect the weekend of January 18-19

The activities to implement the system changes for Release 5 of modernized Trails are scheduled to take place over two days between January 18-19, 2020. The planned schedule for those activities is outlined above (click to enlarge and save the image). If the Trails team encounters any issues that require a change to the schedule, please expect an email communication.

Saturday, January 18, 2020 – Day one of two-day cutover

Both legacy and modernized Trails systems will be unavailable starting early Saturday morning around 1 a.m. into the evening sometime after 6 p.m.

During this time, the Trails project team will be implementing the system changes that come with Release 5. This includes backup and conversion of data. Please wait until you receive an official email communication confirming that cutover activities are complete before attempting to log back into Trails. Even if you are able to log in, any additions or changes that you make could be lost.

  • 12 a.m. – Prepare for system downtime; switch over to paper, manual or alternative processes and log out from both legacy and modernized Trails before 1 a.m.
  • 1 a.m. – Legacy and modernized Trails systems will be taken offline.
  • Approximately 4 p.m. – Trails will be available only to a small contingent of Trails users from various counties and agencies to validate a successful implementation. Do not log into Trails during this time.
  • After 6 p.m. – An email communication will be sent to all Trails users confirming that the initial deployment was successful and that both legacy and modernized Trails are back online.

Sunday, January 19, 2020 – Day two of two-day cutover

Both legacy and modernized Trails systems will be unavailable from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. on Sunday morning to implement additional system changes related to interfaces.

  • 7 a.m. – Prepare for system downtime; switch over to paper, manual or alternative processes and log out from both legacy and modernized Trails before 8:00 am.
  • 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. – Legacy and modernized Trails systems will be taken offline. Do not log into Trails during this time.
  • After 12 p.m. – An email communication will be sent to all Trails users confirming that the deployment was successful and that both legacy and modernized Trails are back online.
