SafeCare Colorado Families Celebration at the Denver Zoo
Three metro-Denver SafeCare Colorado sites partnered to host the “SafeCare Colorado Families Celebration” at the Denver Zoo on June 16. The celebration offered parents and caregivers a unique opportunity to connect with their children, supported positive social connections among SafeCare families, and aimed to recruit and retain new families in the program.
The event was attended by 74 families who currently receive SafeCare services, graduated from the program, or are interested in enrolling. Both families and staff expressed the value of meeting with families at different stages of the SafeCareprogram.
Attendees enjoyed free zoo admission, carousel rides, special meet and greets with the animals, face painting and lunch. Each family also received a welcome packet with resource information, sunscreen, and a healthy snack for the day. For many families this was their first time attending the zoo, resulting in an exciting and smile-filled day.
A huge "thank you" goes out to the staff and volunteers from the Family Tree, Savio House and Arapahoe County Early Childhood Council SafeCare program sites. Your incredible work ensured families had a wonderful time!
