Recruit foster and adoptive parents at Juneteenth

The Colorado Department of Human Services is sponsoring a foster care and adoption recruitment and retention booth at the Denver Juneteenth Music Festival, June 16, 2018 on Welton Street in Five Points. Juneteenth is an annual holiday commemorating the emancipation of slaves in the United States. Denver’s Juneteenth Music Festival is one of the nation’s largest celebrations of Juneteenth. Staff from counties, child placement agencies and nonprofit partners are invited to volunteer for a shift to distribute information about their foster care and adoption programs.

Sign up for a volunteer shift here.

Volunteers will be able to hand out their information and giveaways as well as have a conversation with community members about foster care and adoption. CDHS will provide iPads to collect email addresses. Following the event, CDHS will share this contact information with booth volunteers.

June 11-15, volunteers can drop off their information and giveaways in advance of the event at CDHS, 1575 Sherman Street, Denver, CO 80203. These items will be distributed at the booth for the entirety of the festival. Please coordinate with Mary Gerlach (mary.gerlach@state.co.us).
