How to prepare for Trails Release 5

With just two weeks until system functions around resource, provider and incidents will move from legacy Trails to modernized Trails, it’s time to get ready for Trails Modernization Release 5. 

What should you do now?

  1. Make sure you know where to find training materials, and attend any training that your county’s or agency’s superusers has scheduled.

  2. Make sure you know who to turn to if you have questions or run into issues with the Modernized Trails functionality.

Where can you find training materials?

Job aids are available online to download from the Colorado CWTS website. Job aids provide step-by-step instructions with accompanying screenshots to perform a specific action in Trails, such as “How to add a provider.” (Note: The last batch of job aids for Service Approvals will be added to the Colorado CWTS website next week (November 25-27). If you need a copy of those job aids before then, please email Samuel Warren (samuel.warren@state.co.us) and Jude Tibay (jude.tibay@slalom.com).

Who can you turn to for help?

You should first try reaching out to your superuser for help, especially if you encounter a question or issue that is not covered by any training materials or job aids.

Most counties and agencies have identified one or more superusers to provide local support to their groups. Those superusers will have support to a “Command Center” where they can escalate any questions or issues. The Command Center will be tracking the questions and issues that are raised, and will send out more broadly email communications around recognized bugs, workarounds and other helpful tips & tricks to the affected user groups.

What is a superuser?

A superuser is an individual designated by that county or agency to help make the transition from legacy Trails to modernized Trails go as smoothly as possible. The superuser has three main objectives:

  1. Train other county/agency staff on the upcoming modernized Trails functionality in preparation for the upcoming release.

  2. Provide a level of local, hands-on support to other staff that can ease their transition from legacy Trails to modernized Trails.

Highlight important information to other staff members and translate how modernized Trails fits into the county’s or agency’s day-to-day workflows but in terms they understand.
