Announcing a New Blog Series: Caseworker Conversations
Child welfare caseworkers play a critical role in preventing child abuse and neglect. They are on the front lines every day, working to support families and, above all, protect children from harm. However, many misconceptions exist about the work that caseworkers do. The Colorado Child Abuse and Neglect Awareness Campaign is excited to launch a new blog series that will shed light on caseworkers’ roles and lend faces and insights into what is often a misunderstood yet vital aspect of keeping kids safe and families healthy in Colorado.
Titled “Caseworker Conversations,” these blogs will feature Q&A’s with current caseworkers from across the state. The featured caseworkers will discuss what led them to pursue a career in child welfare, what a typical day looks like for them and what keeps them motivated when the going gets tough. They will also share – while respecting confidentiality – inspiring stories of families they’ve encountered and some of the hurdles those families have overcome.
As part of the series, you will also hear from folks who’ve experienced firsthand the guidance and support of a caseworker. Ranging from a former foster child to a foster parent to an adoptive parent, these individuals provide testament to the care, compassion and dedication caseworkers bring to their jobs on a daily basis.
The campaign’s first blog in the series is coming soon. Be sure to check back in the coming days to enjoy this inside look at the essential roles that caseworkers play in child safety, and encourage people in the field of child welfare to share your insight using the hashtag #CO4kids.
