Telephone town hall with Colorado foster parents November 29 6 pm

As part of the Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS) effort to spark a movement to support foster parents here in Colorado, foster parents are encouraged to participate in a telephone town hall to share your experience and help CDHS learn more about how to better support you.

This outreach effort is part of an ongoing effort over the last several months to better support foster parents. CDHS and many state and local partners have held holding a series of  local town hall discussions with foster parents to talk about some of the ideas in the 2016 Annie E. Casey Foundation report entitled “A Movement to Transform Foster Parenting” exploring ways for public agencies to ensure that children receive the care they need by enlisting more volunteers to step forward as foster parents and by encouraging the extraordinary individuals who have already answered the call to continue their commitment to care.

In addition, a foster parent steering committee has begun to meet twice monthly to reflect on feedback from foster parents, explore best practices to better support foster parents, assess systemic issues impacting foster parenting throughout Colorado and develop recommendations to address identified challenges.
